WE BUILD
MARYLAND

With over 1,500 member firms, ABC Maryland is the voice of the Merit Shop.
ABC helps its members develop people, win work, and deliver that work safely, ethically, and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.

Who we are

The legislative arm of Maryland's Four Chapters
ABC Maryland serves as the legislative arm for the four Maryland chapters — Appalachia, Chesapeake Shores, Greater Baltimore, and Metro Washington. We advocate on behalf of the Merit Shop, a philosophy that promotes open competition and innovation in the construction industry. Through its local chapters, ABC Maryland is actively involved in protecting and advancing our members' priorities.

What we believe

Four Commitments that Guide Our Work

Workforce Investment

There is no bigger issue in our industry today than the lack of skilled workers. That's why ABC trains more apprentices than any other organization in Maryland. ABC is active in high schools and middle schools, reaching out to communities to educate them on the nearly unlimited opportunities available in the construction industry.

World-Class Safety

ABC trains thousands of construction employees every year in everything from fall protection to confined space to trenching and excavating safety. Because construction is one of the most dangerous industries in the United States, ABC supports initiatives that protect workers, promote safety training, and address drug and alcohol abuse.

Free Enterprise

ABC believes the economy functions best and provides optimal opportunities when businesses and individuals are allowed to compete openly and fairly in the marketplace — with minimum interference from the government.

Giving Back to the Community

Whether it's operating the most successful workforce development and job-placement program in the region (Project JumpStart), or providing scholarships for young women pursuing careers in the architectural, engineering, or construction industries, ABC and its members donate tens of thousands of volunteer hours and millions of dollars for the betterment of communities across the s
